How Much Should You Pay Affiliates and Influencers?
October 6, 2026 · admin
There is no universal affiliate or influencer commission rate. The right number depends on gross margin, customer lifetime value, average order value, repeat purchase behaviour, partner type and how much value the partner adds.
Start with your economics
Work backwards from the value of a new customer and the margin available for acquisition. A commission that looks attractive but destroys contribution margin is not sustainable.
Different partners may justify different rates
A high-intent comparison publisher, a creator producing original content and a loyalty partner may contribute in different ways. Tiered commissions, bonuses and temporary campaign rates can help align reward with value.
Influencers may need hybrid compensation
Creators often have production costs that traditional affiliates do not. A hybrid model can combine a fixed content fee with performance commission, allowing the brand to secure quality content while rewarding results.
Review, do not set and forget
Monitor conversion quality, new customers, margin and partner contribution. Commission strategy should evolve as you learn which relationships create sustainable growth.
